Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery

Intro to Otolaryngology

for Head & Neck

Otolaryngologists treat patients of all age ranges, as these diseases are not specific for any age of life. Otolaryngic congenital anomalies are present at birth but may appear later in life. Otolaryngologists are trained in all the diseases affecting the head & neck region of the body. However, due to the increasing level of medical knowledge, some otolaryngologists "super-specialize" in sub-specialties of otolaryngology to manage highly specific clinical problems present in the patient population.

Gregg S. Govett, M.D., is a board certified otolaryngologist located at 1201 S. Post Road in Midwest City, Oklahoma. He received his undergraduate degree in chemistry from The Citadel, graduated from medical school from Texas Tech University School of Medicine, and received his post-graduate training in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at The Tulane University School of Medicine.

Dr. Govett was certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology in 1993. Following his residency training, he served as a medical officer in the United States Air Force as an otolaryngologist with the 375th Medical Group at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. He also served as the Otolaryngology Consultant to the Air Mobility Command of the United States Air Force and as a Department of Defense Combat Casualty Care Course Instructor during his military tour. He is also a fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy. (Otolaryngic Allergy deals specifically with allergic disease in the head and neck region.) As a result of managing several challenging clinical problems, Dr. Govett obtained education in environmental medicine, and completed the examination process in environmental medicine and was certified by the American Board of Environmental Medicine in 2012.
